The Butte Cobras stunned the Gillette Wild on the road in Wyoming on Friday night by blasting off to a 3-0 lead.
Bryce Gould would net the game’s opening goal in the first, while Nolan Samples and Daniel Bazarin would score in the second. Karl Zodda would stay busy in the Cobra net, as he made 54 saves on a blitzkrieg of Wild shots.
However, Gillette would score their first goal midway through the second period and shift the momentum, potting four unanswered goals and ultimately winning the tilt by a score of 4-3.
“In Friday ’s game, we dominated up until the third period. Our effort level went down, and they were able to put a couple in the net early in the third to tie the game, and eventually go onto win.” said Samples.
On Saturday, Butte fell 10-1 to Gillette. Wyatt Haakenson would score Butte’s goal late in the third period.
Butte’s next game will be against the Great Falls Americans at home on Saturday, February 2nd.
