Butte Cobras Keep Looking to Build

By Merrick Parnell, Northern Hockey News

The Butte Cobras are remaining optimistic despite two losses this weekend. The Cobras dropped a 5-0 decision to the Bozeman Icedogs, and then follow that by losing a 12-1 game to the league-leading Helena Bighorns.

Butte’s goalie Sean Leonard proved to be a bright spot with his 69 saves on Friday night against Bozeman, and Donald Dickens scored his first goal as a Cobra Saturday night against Helena.

“It was a good start to something that is going to be great. We have been playing much better lately and there is much more to come,” said Leonard.

Butte’s General Manager, Bill Lavelle, is excited about the potential that Dickens has.

“Donny [Dickens]  is an aggressive very skilled player with an excellent hockey IQ. His ability to see the play develop adds another level of depth to the team.” Lavelle said.

The Cobras will re-group and build up to this next weekend’s series versus the Yellowstone Quake in Cody, Wyoming, and the Cobras will return home to Butte for two games against Gillette on November 9th and 10th.
